Join our host, Master Photographer and Photography Business Coach, Luci Dumas, as she gabs with Branding and Website Designer Emily Foster about all things branding!
Not only is Emily a Branding and Website Designer, but, to our delight, she SPECIALIZES IN WORKING WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS! Too perfect! With 7 years of design experience and a background in event marketing, she loves everything related to photography and the wedding industry. (BONUS: She’s also a recent bride so she knows a thing or two about the current client-side of wedding photography.)
According to our guest, “branding is the visual voice of your business.” It is THE key to ensuring that your company’s message is getting out in the world and attracting those fabulous ideal clients along the way.
And guess what! Your brand should be effective, not just pretty! Tough stuff, we know, but Emily is here to help!
Here’s just a taste of Emily’s tips for branding:
Make sure your logo is scalable and easy to apply. Keep it simple! (And make sure it looks good both in color AND in black and white)
Figure out where your ideal clients are finding you. What questions are they asking?
Keep track of your audience. Using a CRM (customer relationship management) will help you organize who is who.
Listen now for the full gamut of Emily’s branding and design wisdom!
Wowing with your Website! Today we are talking to Emily Lee about amping your website to the next level!
Emily Jane Lee is the owner of the website design business “By Emily Jane”, where she specializes in creating custom Squarespace sites for wedding professionals and creative service providers.
With her former experience as a photographer, she fully understands how difficult it can be to create a website that actually helps you stand out and make money. That’s why Emily loves helping other creatives get more dream client inquiries by incorporating proven strategy and professional design into their websites.
(AKA: HAVING A PRETTY WEBSITE ISN’T ALL THERE IS TO IT! Listen as Emily shares her expertise on creating a site that isn’t just beautiful, it’s also user-friendly and performs well in Google search results.)
Emily finds it especially important to make sure your site is functioning well on mobile. According to Emily, over half of your website traffic is taking place on mobile (!!!) so it’s important not to dismiss this common blindspot.
Don’t fret, Emily is here to help! She’ll cover:
Why we must optimize our websites for mobile (and what that even means)
Top 5 mobile mistakes photographers make on their site
How to audit your site for mobile-friendliness going forward
This will affect OVER HALF of your site views? I wouldn’t wait to listen if I were you!
“I have maintained self-employment and a studio for 40+ years and I always seek opportunities that will improve my craft. Mentoring in my life has been priceless.”
‘Tis better to give than to receive on this episode of The Profitable Photographer Episode!
Yup! Today my guest George Allan and I discuss the many teachers and mentors we learned from as we were building our photography skills and businesses over 40 years. We share many of the key lessons from several beloved and brilliant photographers no longer with us, like Monte Zucker, Don Blair, and Mr. Phillip Charis. (If you knew Charis you would understand why we still call him MR).
This is a super fun episode I know you will love! These are people I so wish I could interview now so at least we can pass some of their tips on today.
George has been at the photography game since he was 19, opening his first studio in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Since then, he has photographed over 2,000 weddings in 28 years! Wowza!
George has been fortunate to work under and beside many great mentors over his photography career including one that told him: “Work harder on yourself than you do your business.” This advice has become a pillar in his life and business bringing him to value self-improvement and to become a mentor himself.
George also shares:
How to build positive rapport with clients
Harnessing total comfort and control in a shoot
Allowing your soul to create
Learn from the past, enjoy great stories and be sure to keep learning from those of us still here to support your growth!
And don’t hesitate to connect with George! After all, he would love to pass on some wisdom at:

Babies of the world cry out with joy, award-winning Newborn & Milestone Photographer Amy Pazur is with us on The Profitable Photographer Podcast today! She’s sharing her philosophy on the payoff of a rich client relationship.
If you were to step into a session with Amy, you would be MORE THAN TAKEN CARE OF. Amy has a very gentle touch and she ensures her clients and their babies have everything they need. Girl’s even taking snack requests! Say no more!
Amy believes that two of the most important prongs of your photography business are: client care + self care. Going above and beyond for your client creates trust and comfort (which usually equals more sales in the long run!). And taking care of yourself helps you show up to your business with full energy and enthusiasm! Now that’s a cycle I can get behind.
What does self-care look like to Amy:
Pricing your services the way you deserve
Taking on personal projects that fill your creative cup
Niching down to what you really love to do
So brew a nice cup of tea, put up your feet, and indulge in some self-care while you listen to this episode on self-care and client relationships.
